IMBG team presents research on antibiotic resistance at FEMS 2025 in Milan

Researchers from the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics (IMBG) of Kiev, coordinator of the SURE-AMR project, took part in the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) 2025 conference, held in Milan.

The international meeting provided an excellent opportunity to present new findings on the critical issue of antibiotic resistance in Ukraine, a challenge that has intensified in recent years and poses a serious threat to global public health.

The IMBG team contributed with two scientific presentations:

  • “Azithromycin-driven development of collateral sensitivity to meropenem in XDR/PDR K. pneumonia hospital isolates”

  • “Streptococcus agalactiae in pregnant women colonizing the genital tract and their sensitivity to antibacterial drugs”

Participation in FEMS 2025 allowed IMBG researchers to share their results, engage in discussions with the international scientific community and explore new opportunities for collaboration.

This contribution highlights the commitment of the SURE-AMR project to supporting Ukraine’s research and innovation ecosystem and to advancing collective efforts against antimicrobial resistance.
